Native Bumblebee Workshop

Interested in a hands-on Community Science Experience – finding and categorizing California native bumblebees? Friends of Griffith Park will be hosting a Bumblebee Workshop introduction to the Bumble Bee Atlas, followed by a field outing in Griffith Park on Saturday, May 3rd from 10 AM to 1 PM.

The workshop will be facilitated by Kristy L. Brauch, Founder of Cynergetic Learning Lab, a Certified California Naturalist with UC ANR, and a Certified Steward with Pollinator Partnership.

The first half of the workshop is dedicated to learning Bumblebee ecology and identification. While the second half is an all-inclusive demonstration — participants that complete the advance free training/quiz can join in the hands-on experience. This quiz demonstrates that you understand standardized protocol, how to protect bees and other sensitive natural resources from harm. (btw, the training is easy and you can do it at home! FIRST… “FIRST…WATCH THE VIDEO, THEN TAKE THE QUIZ. WE WOULD PREFER ALL ATTENDEES WHO RSVP FOR THE EVENT BE LISTED ON THE PERMIT SO THEY CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE FIELD WORK!
