Friends of Griffith Park is a non-profit charitable group that promotes the enlightened stewardship of Griffith Park so it can survive and thrive for another hundred years. By joining Friends of Griffith Park you help preserve this living resource for future generations to enjoy.
Members receive these Benefits:
- Friends of Griffith Park newsletter with articles on issues and events affecting the Park and its users.
- Invitations to free-to-member lectures and programs, guided hikes and other activities.
- Invitations to volunteer opportunities in the Park.

Friends of Griffith Park is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 90-0635056) and all donations by US taxpayers are deductible under the current IRS Code. No goods or services were provided by the Friends of Griffith Park in exchange for your donation.

Upon approval by our board of directors, your donation may also be used in a way most meaningful for you, such as a special education program or to advocate for a specific purpose.

Donor Advised Fund
A donor advised fund (DAF) is a type of giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support your favorite charities such as Friends of Griffith Park.
- To fill out the form below: Select your sponsoring organization, enter the amount (in US dollars) you would like to recommend, and click Next button to complete your donor-advised fund transaction on your sponsoring organization’s website.
- If you have a DAF with a sponsoring organization not represented on this list, you can still recommend grants through your investment broker. FoGP’s Tax ID is 90-0635056.
When you make a Donor-Advised Fund gift, it’s possible that the sponsoring organization (Fidelity or Charles Schwab, for example) will not share your information with us. Please email info@friendsofgriffithpark.org when you’ve made a gift so we can make sure to thank you and for your gift and update your membership!
Donating Appreciated Stock
Donating securities, especially highly appreciated stocks, is an effective and tax-efficient way to support Friends of Griffith Park. The reason is simple: you avoid Federal and State capital gains taxes on the stocks transferred directly to Friends of Griffith Park. (As always, discuss these types of transactions with your tax advisor.)
Contributing your securities directly to a charity increases the amount of your gift as well as your deduction. And It’s easy to do!

Your broker should value the assets at the time of donation for reporting on your tax filing. As no goods or services were provided to you in return for your charitable contribution, the entire amount of your contribution is tax-deductible to the full extent otherwise allowed by law.
Qualified Charitable Distributions
If you are 70½ years old or older, you can take advantage of a simple way to benefit Friends if Griffith Park and receive tax benefits in return. You can give an amount from your IRA directly to FoGP. This will count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) and you won’t have to pay income taxes on the money. Please contact your IRA custodian to learn more and to make your donation in this way.
