We’re Heading Back to the Bird Sanctuary

November 8 @ 8:30 am - 11:00 am

We’ll continue to clear debris from the historic streambeds and tackle more invasives at the Bird Sanctuary in preparation of the coming winter rains. And a quick explanation of why we try to get ahead of invasives is simple: they tend to crowd out natives.

If you look along the hillsides, pockets of caterpillar phacelia are clearly evident up the slopes – an indicator that our efforts have been helpful in returning natives to an area devastated by the 2007 fire. We hope everyone will continue to support our efforts. Don’t forget to bring a friend!

Please dress comfortably… old clothes, comfy shoes, plus a hat and sunscreen. If you have gloves, bring them, although we do have gloves on hand. We’ll provide tools and water (if you bring a bottle, you’re welcome to refill).

In order to work in the Park per LA Rec and Parks (RAP), a VOLUNTEER FORM (note: this form can be filled out on your computer) is required. Fill out the form, and either email it back to rossarnold1213@gmail.com, or bring the completed form to the event.

Already completed a form? Great! Just sign-in when you arrive at the site!

Get ready, get set, join the fun and continue to celebrate the uniqueness of Griffith Park!
