Now that we’re getting back into Griffith Park for volunteer efforts, FoGP, LA Recreation and Parks and CD-4 will be kicking off events with an EARTH DAY celebration! We’ll be planting ferns along the Fern Dell stream bed as well as doing some work in the recently planted garden across from The Trails Café.

While volunteers will be primarily working in Fern Dell (mostly shady)… some suggestions:
You WILL get dirty so please dress appropriately. Bring a hat, and if you have a favorite set of gloves, bring ’em. Don’t forget to pack the sunscreen and your favorite water bottle. FoGP always provides water, so if you run low, there will be water available. While tools will be provided, if you have a small shovel you’d like to bring, feel free to do so.

The planting area is very large, so folks will be able to social-distance! However, you’re welcome to wear a mask if you’re uncomfortable. Same goes for the site across the street from The Trails where folks will be weeding in the planted garden.

Because it’s the weekend, we’re letting folks know that parking is difficult in the area and you might have to park at the Section 9 Lot (slightly north of the Trails Café). There will be signage directing you to the site, as well as a table for sign-ins. If you’ve filled out a volunteer form in the past, you can just sign-in at the table. Otherwise, please fill out a volunteer form and bring with you.

Please note:
RAP just hired a new ecologist (Courtney McCammon) who will be leading a Fern Dell Hike beginning at 9:30 AM. The hike will start at the area adjacent to Trails Café and if you’re interested, rsvp to:

CD-4 will be hosting several events down the dell and at tents set up behind Trails Café, so please stay for the fun!
