The results for the 2021 Raptor Study have been completed and are ready for presentation by biologist/researchers Courtney McCammon and Dan Cooper. FoGP President Gerry Hans will moderate this evening’s event. This is the fifth year the study has taken place in Griffith Park and the surrounding environs and this presentation is the culmination of research done by the many trained volunteers participating in the study.
A teaser from Courtney about the results: there were nearly 435 nests evaluated in this study of which 294 were active. Nests of multiple raptor species were monitored during the nesting stages – Red-tailed hawks, Red-shouldered hawks, Cooper’s hawks, Great Horned owl, Western Screech-owl, Barn owl, Peregrine Falcon and American Kestrel. So, whether you’re a casual birder or a hardcore aficionado of all things raptor, we guarantee you’ll thoroughly enjoy this presentation.
