DESCRIPTION:FoGP volunteers will be doing something different for the first event in Griffith Park. We’ve never really addressed this area before\, so… \nParking Lot #9 is at the top of Fern Dell and this area gets lots of traffic due to the fact it’s the only parking lot in the immediate area. It also gets a fair amount of trash. \nWe”ll be focusing on two areas – invasive weed removal at the entry and then mulch placed to control weeds and rejuvenate plants during hotter months (later in the year). \nWe really hope to see a slew of folks come out to help this area get a bit of love for the new year! \nREMINDER TIME: Please dress comfortably… old clothes\, comfy shoes\, plus a hat and sunscreen. If you have gloves\, bring them\, although we do have gloves on hand. We’ll provide tools and water (if you bring a bottle\, you’re welcome to refill). \nIn order to work in the Park per LA Rec and Parks (RAP)\, a VOLUNTEER FORM (note: this form can be filled out on your computer) is required. Fill out the form\, and either email it back to rossarnold1213@gmail.com\, or bring the completed form to the event. \nAlready completed a form? Great! Just sign-in when you arrive at the site! \nGet ready\, get set\, join the fun and continue to celebrate the uniqueness of Griffith Park! \nIf you have free time on Wednesday mornings\, we have a crew that spends time in different areas\, removing plants like this… if you would be interested in joining\, please contact bettinaboxall@gmail.com \n  \n  \nFor those unfamiliar\, this is a castor bean plant\, and while quite lovely\, it’s highly invasive in Griffith Park \n

SUMMARY:FoGP's January 2026 Mushroom Meander is Coming
DESCRIPTION:By now anyone who’s taken part in one of these “meanders” knows what to expect. \nWe’re very happy to have Foraging & Mushroom Hunting Women of SoCal’s Bat Verdeh leading another group through one of the canyons to hunt more mushrooms. Due to continuing rains\, mushrooms of all shapes and sizes continue to emerge – so we hope you’ll join FoGP for another Wonderful World of Mushrooms Meander/Hike. If you’re unable to join this event\, there will be another in February. \nLimited spaces are available with priority going to FoGP members. Reserve your space now as they do go fast! \nWE WOULD APPRECIATE (due to the numbers of folks that would like to attend\, if you’re going to RSVP… do so for yourself and ONE other individual). if you want others to also join\, ask them to RSVP for themselves!
