SUMMARY:November Brings Volunteers Back to Fern Dell
DESCRIPTION:Friends of Griffith Park volunteers will be back in the Fern Dell streambed area as we continue to prepare for the winter storms. Months back we began this work\, cleaning the area near Parking Lot #9 at the northern end and have been steadily moving toward Los Feliz Blvd. We’re currently working just below Trails Café. \nFoGP will supply hand tools\, work gloves\, water and cups\, but if you have your own gloves and/or water containers\, please bring them. We do recommend wearing long pants\, closed-toe shoes or boots\, sunscreen. If you have sensitive skin\, you should wear a long-sleeve shirt even though we’re working primarily in the shade. And lastly\, don’t forget the hat. \nPLEASE LOOK FOR OUR SIGNS as we’ll be working down close to Los Feliz Blvd. \nPlease remember: before you come\, we ask that you PLEASE fill out a volunteer form (RAP requires one for all volunteers working in the Park) and send to rossarnold1213@gmail.com \n  \nPhoto from the recent volunteer effort highlights Ross giving his talk about proper tool etiquette when working around others.

SUMMARY:A Hike in Memory of P-22
DESCRIPTION:Join Friends of Griffith Park as we hike in honor of Griffith Park legend and local resident\, P-22. \nWhen P-22 passed away on Dec. 17\, 2023\, the world joined Los Angeles to celebrate the legacy of this remarkable cougar who lived and hunted for more than 10 years in Griffith Park. \nTo honor his astonishing life\, you’re invited to join FoGP on a hike along the landscapes where he lived and roamed. \nFor more information\, email Brenda@friendsofgriffithpark.org \nWe’ll meet at the Travel Town parking lot by the picnic benches and hike to Royce’s Canyon. \nWe highly recommend that you wear good\, comfortable shoes or hiking boots\, bring water and get ready to share with fellow hikers what this animal meant to you.
